What a successful year
for Andy Murray after becoming the first British man to win 7-6 (12-10) 7-5 2-6
3-6 6-2 in four hours 54 minutes in the Arthur Ashe Stadium Grand Slam final
since Fred Perry in 1936 after defeating Novak Djokovic in the final of the U.S.
Open,
Murray, 25, also
reached the Wimbledon final and won Olympic Gold this summer.
"When I realised
I had won, I was a little bit shocked, I was very relieved and I was very
emotional," said Murray.
Murray will now replace the injured Rafael Nadal as
world No.3 in the official men's rankings.
