Lekki Building Collapse: Ambode sacks MD of Building Control Agency, 3 others


In the wake of the Lekki Gardens building collapse, Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode on Monday approved the dismissal of the General Manager of the Building Control Agency (LASBCA) Engr. Adeigbe Olushola.

The Governor also approved the dismissal of the Head of Inspection and Quality Control in the Agency, Adeoye Thomas Adeyemi, the Zonal District Officer in the Agency, Dosunmu Gbadebo, while the Zonal Head of Eti-Osa West of the Agency, Mrs. Akinde Adenike Sherifat was compulsorily retired from the Civil Service.

Lagos Assembly wants Mile 12 Market relocated


The Lagos State House of Assembly has called for the relocation of the Mile 12 Market after a deadly ethnic clash left many dead in the area.

The Assembly, which described the conflict that resulted in the destruction of property running into millions of naira as unfortunate, urged Governor Akinwunmi Ambode to find another location for the popular market, a statement said.

The lawmakers sent their condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the clash and condemned the killings and criticised the soldiers stationed at the market for failing to stop the conflict from spreading.

Some of the solider had been accused of taking sides in the clash between Yoruba and Hausa youths and the Assembly called for an enquiry into the incident.

Ambode Promises Development Of Epe Community


The Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode on Sunday promised residents of Epe community that the ancient town would undergo infrastructural transformation during his governance.

At a special Ramadan Lecture held at the premises of the Epe Local Government Council, the Governor thanked the people for their support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the election period. He promised that the development of the Epe community would be utmost to him.

In his speech, he assured the residents that their gesture of support would not be ignored and that his administration would carry out infrastructural projects to improve their standard of living.

“I just want to say a big thank you to everyone here. I know that a lot of us contested, but the bottom line is that I belong to this community and whatever it is that we do, it is in the interest of this community. We are all going to stand together to make sure that the development of Epe is uppermost in our heart.”

Governor Ambode who hails from Epe, encouraged residents to join hands with his administration, urging Muslims to seize the period of Ramadan to pray for the success of his tenure.

Governor Ambode Set To Launch People Friendly Traffic Regime


Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode is set to drastically change the face of Lagos traffic by introducing a world class traffic information and management system.

The globally tested traffic system which has worked for many cities similar to Lagos is set to have caught the eye of Governor Ambode who wants to see Lagosians spend less hours in traffic and more in their offices and at work.

In the next few weeks, the governor will work with some experts to design a system that fits the Lagos traffic pattern. Today, Lagos is home to some of the worst traffic congestion in the world.
