IT'S TRUMP!

Washington (CNN) Donald Trump will become the 45th president of the United States, CNN projects, a historic victory for outsiders that represents a stunning repudiation of Washington's political establishment.

The billionaire real estate magnate and former reality star needed an almost perfect run through the swing states -- and he got it, winning Ohio, North Carolina and Florida.

The Republican swept to victory over Hillary Clinton in the ultimate triumph for a campaign that repeatedly shattered the conventions of politics to pull off a remarkable upset. Clinton conceded to Trump in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Speaking at a victory party in New York, Trump was gracious toward Clinton and called for unity.
"We owe (Clinton) a very major debt of gratitude to her for her service to our country," Trump said. "I say it is time for us to come together as one united people."

Cost of President Buhari's trip to the US grossly exaggerated - Presidency

Press statement from the presidency...

Our attention has been drawn to an editorial published in the Nigerian Pilot of August 2, 2015 and an earlier report in which the total cost of President Muhammadu Buhari's recent trip to the U.S. was estimated at N2.2 billion. It is very sad that in this age of free-flowing information and in this era of change, a media organisation would make itself available as a vehicle to peddle a lie of such low and ignominious quality.

Contrary to the newspaper's assertions, the total cost of the trip to the Nigerian taxpayer was at the most minimal, in line with the policy of this administration to cut waste and extravagance. In point of fact, the total amount expended on the trip by the Office of the President amounted to nothing near ten per cent of the speculated figure.

In an interview with CNN's Amanpour, President Buhari talked about what he wants the US to do for Nigeria as it relates to the fight against Boko Haram

"The United States and even the G7 promised to do what they can to help Nigeria so we have brought our requirements in terms of training and equipping and in intelligence gathering for Nigeria to be able to fight Boko Haram" - he said

future investments to thrive in the country.

Naira Drops To N241 Against The Dollar

The naira hit another record low of 241 against the dollar at the parallel market on Monday as the Central Bank of Nigeria’s restrictions on foreign exchange sale fuelled unofficial trade in dollars, Reuters reported.

The ban on importers from accessing the Nigerian foreign exchange markets for the importation of 41 items had led to the volatility of the naira-dollar exchange rate at the black market.

Since June 23 when the new forex rule became operational, the naira has fallen by 10.5 per cent from 218 to 241 against the greenback.

Foreign exchange dealers said the artificial scarcity of the United States currency still pervaded the market.

The new forex rule had led to huge demand at the parallel market, causing dealers to hoard the dollar in anticipation of further fall in the naira

ISIS threatens the US. Shares a pic of a beheaded Statue of Liberty

ISIS Twitter account shared this photo of a beheaded Statue of Liberty holding a black flag and New York City up in flames with a caption: Coming Soon

I earn $50 per tweet, says Ex-Governor's daughter, Kemi Olunloyo

To some members of the Nigerian social media community, Kemi Omololu-Olunloyo is controversial. But the 50-year-old daughter of a former governor of Oyo State, Dr. Victor Omololu-Olunloyo, says Nigerian youths rather misunderstand her and what she does on social media.

While many spend a lot of time criticising her on online, the United States/Canada-trained pharmacist says she earns between $50 and $150 every time she publishes three tweets for her foreign clients who are mainly musical artistes.

In an online interview with The PUNCH, Kemi, who has spent 25 years on social media, says Nigerian youths are missing the commercial side of the platforms because they chose to attack her and others who mean well for the country.

“In a good month, one can make between $2,000 and $5,000 or even more, depending on what one is
putting out on each platform,” she says, describing social media as her life.

With good content, she adds, young Nigerian tweeters can monetise their accounts and earn a decent living promoting companies and artistic works. Advising those who hope to key into the “big opportunity”, she urges them to stop using their handles “in a negative way”.
