I am going to suffer because I have no place to lay my head - Fr. Mbaka


Enugu Catholic priest, and founder, Adoration Ministry, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, has said he is going to suffer in his new parish.

Mbaka made the statement after he was moved from the Christ the King Parish, G.R.A, in Enugu metropolis, where he served as parish priest for over 20 years, to Our Lady Parish, in Emene, a suburb of the Coal City.

While handing over to his successor on Saturday, Mbaka said, “I know we are going to suffer, between now and few months to come, I am going to suffer.

“I am going to suffer because I have no place to lay my head; I am going to suffer because I have no place to keep the (Adoration) Ministry’s assets.

South East roads require urgent Government attention - Osinbajo


Vice President Osinbajo, while answering questions from journalists at a wedding he attended at the Cathedral Church of the Good Shepherd, Anglican Communion, Enugu, during the weekend, said that the worst problem plaguing people of the South-Eastern area was bad roads, adding that the situation required urgent Federal Government attention.

Prof. Osinbajo stated that even though the government has some financial constraints, there was urgent need to improve on the roads in the region where commerce is the source of income for the people. He said that he had discussed the issue with Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State.

Gov. Fashola, Amaechi, Akpabio, Kwankwaso Under Probe by ICPC


 The Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission has set up a task force to probe eight former governors in the country over alleged mismanagement of public funds.

 “It is true that we are going after eight former governors. The investigation against four of the former governors of Rivers, Katsina, Kano and Enugu has commenced.

 “However, the commission has listed four other former governors who are on the waiting list because of petitions against them. They are the immediate past governors of Lagos, Akwa Ibom, Ebonyi and Jigawa States.

 “A Special Task Force was set up by the Chairman of the commission to coordinate the investigation in the states. So we are reopening the petitions through the Chairman of the Special Task Force.”

 A top operative of the commission, who confided in Punch, said that the task force was set up following petitions written against the former governors.

Enugu Police command faults DSS claims, says no Boko haram member was arrested in Enugu


The Enugu state police command has faulted claims by the Department of State Security DSS that some Boko Haram members were arrested in Enugu state recently.
DSS had released a statement on Sunday August 30th, stating that it had arrested some frontline Boko Haram members in Lagos, Plateau, Gombe, Kano and Enugu state.

DSS in the statement said 12 Boko haram members were arrested in Lagos state while three were arrested in Enugu, Gombe and Kano.

Nine pregnant girls rescued from Enugu baby factory by the Police


The Enugu State Police Command on Saturday rescued nine pregnant girls during a raid on a baby factory at the 9th Mile area of the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, said that the baby factory belonged to Ikechukwu Onoh who ran the baby factory from his home. Onoh was arrested during the raid and the girls are now in Police custody

Two Young Nigerians Get 55 Years Jail Term In Enugu (Pictured)


A Federal High Court sitting in Enugu, has sentenced two drug traffickers to fifty-five years in jail.

One of the convicts, Deborah Okafor, a 30-year-old professional dancer, was charged with conspiracy, trafficking and unlawful possession of 3.450kg of amphetamine, while the other, Iheme Onyemauchechukwu, was charged with trafficking and unlawful importation of 9.975kg of heroin. They were both arrested at the Enugu airport.

A statement by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency said Okafor would have been paid the sum of $3,500 if she successfully made her trip to Malaysia.

Angry Mob Lynch And Set Ablaze Two Robbers In Onitsha (graphic Pics)


Two suspected armed robbers, who specialise in snatching motorcycles, met their Waterloo in Onitsha on Tuesday.

The suspected hoodlums, who have allegedly been terrorizing residents of Nkpor and its environs, Idemili North Local Government Area, Anambra state, were set ablaze by angry mob.

The end came for the robbers when they attempted to rob a Northern trader at gun-point. The trader who came to procure goods at the Nkpor New tyre market was intercepted by the robbers at the road side under the watchful eyes of residents.
