Robbers attack and strangle man to death in Lagos


A five man robbery gang identified as Anthony Toms (20), Godwin Francis (25), Michael Inyang (21), Evidence David (22), Etuk Tony (23) have been arrested by the Lagos state police command for strangling a 32 year old cab driver, Sonye Chukwudi, aka Zack Friday, as they robbed him at the Ransome Kuti Gardens, Anthony Village on Sunday June 28th. The robbers believed their victim was a rich man who had plenty money.

According to Punch, the robbers, acting on information from one of them, Tom, invited Zack Friday, who uses a Mercedes Benz E320 saloon car for his car hire service, to the Ransome Kuti Garden to carry some flowers to a customer living at Ojodu Berger area of the state. The victim drove to the place, parked his car, met with Tom and as he was helping to carry flowers into the booth, the other robbers came out from their hiding place, hit the victim on his head before using a cloth to strangle him to death. They ransacked his car and found only N4, 750.

This is also an appeal to the appropriate agencies in Lagos and other states. Curb the menace of traffic robbery now before these robbers start killing people. Talent manager Isioma Osaje shares her experience below.

'I want to give my testimony. At 11:30pm two sets of people attempted to rob me in traffic. I had just gotten off the phone with my mum to say I was in standstill traffic. When the first set of two guys yelled at me from outside my window to wind down. Unknown to me she immediately said a prayer for my safe return.

Dad Taught Me Robbery, Teenage Robbery Suspect Confesses

A 15-year-old suspected armed robber, Kosi Ebosie, arrested in Umuchu town in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State, southeast Nigeria, has confessed that he actually inherited robbery from his father who was a notorious criminal in the area.

He said his family members are not surprised as they used to tell him that he resemble his father who he said was known for taking what did not belong to him.

The suspect was arrested along with two members of his gang, Chima David, 17, from Imo State and Onyedika Ikesinachi, 16, on Tuesday 23 June, 2015.
