Why Nigeria's plans for a dream Eldorado city are not radical enough

A designer's view of Eko Atlantic's central marina. The new city will be home to quarter of a million people and employ a further 150,000 commuters.

(CNN)The government of the state of Lagos -- Nigeria's former capital -- has proudly proclaimed it is building a new city that will become the new financial center of Nigeria, and perhaps West Africa. The scale of the Eko Atlantic project is immense and progress is being achieved through a team effort between investors, planners, engineers and contractors.

Pitched as Africa's answer to Dubai, Eko Atlantic is a multibillion dollar residential and business development that is located as an appendage to Victoria Island, and along the renowned Bar Beach shoreline in Lagos. The plan is that it will:
  • Consist of ten square kilometers (3.86 square miles) of land reclaimed from the Atlantic Ocean
  • Be home to quarter of a million people and employ a further 150,000 people who will commute on daily basis
  • Be billed as a 24-hour, green-conscious, world-class city; and
  • Attract and retain top multinational corporations

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt fly ECONOMY Alongside Their Six Children From Paris to Nice

Guess who was seen at the Airport today, Angelina Jolie and her family!

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are two of the world's most famous people as at today. But the Hollywood stars like to keep things as down-to-earth as possible for themselves and their brood of six children.

The famous family shunned a private jet or even the luxury of First Class in order to take a normal approach to travelling as they piled into an Air France plane on Saturday, going from the US to France, landing in Paris before taking a domestic trip down to Nice.

What a Family!

This is simplicity at it's Best.

Taking flight: Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were joined by their six children as they flew from Los Angeles to Paris, and then on to Nice on Saturday - on the second leg of their journey they were seated in Economy Class on an Air France flight

No help needed: Brad, 51, put his and his family's hand luggage in the overhead storage, as his second-eldest child Pax tried to lend a hand

Blending in: The Hollywood stars and their large brood went seemingly unnoticed on the flight

Sleek travelling style: Angelina, 40, kept it simple for her trip from Los Angeles to Paris and Nice, in black trousers, t-shirt and blazer

Onward journey: The Hollywood star looked relaxed as she disembarked from the flight with her family, including six-year-old son Knox in tow

Designer star: Angelina showed off her showbiz size as she carried a Louis Vuitton bag
